Campus Map Important Announcements for the Winter Quarter Financial Aid Winter Census Date is January 12, 2024 at 11:59pm The Census Date is the last day for students to add/drop classes and have their financial aid adjusted to their enrolled number of credits. Waitlisted students must be in their class by this date or financial aid cannot include the class in the student’s enrollment. Winter Quarter Disbursement Fall Quarter Disbursement will begin on January 8, 2024. Until this date, a hold code called Financial Aid-Do Not Drop” will be placed on the accounts of students who accepted their financial aid awards and will prevent their classes from being dropped until financial aid applies. Students who do not have the Financial Aid-Do Not Drop” hold code are not being held in their classes by the Financial Aid Office and may be dropped if they do not pay in full or sign up for a payment plan. Students who are on Financial Aid Suspension or Maximum Timeframe status may have a Financial Aid-Do Not Drop” hold code to give them time to appeal or find alternative payment arrangements. Students who do not appeal or whose appeals are denied will have this hold code removed on January 11, 2024, and your classes may be dropped. Financial Aid Refunds Financial Aid Refunds go through our partner BankMobile, and begin January 8, 2024. The timing of your refund depends on your BankMobile refund option: BankMobile Vibe Account: Same day as your disbursement of financial to your Highline Student Account Direct Deposit: 3-7 days after your financial aid disburses to your Highline Student Account, the wait time depends on your bank or credit union and their electronic transfer policy Paper Check: 10-45 days after your financial aid is disbursed to your Highline Student Account, if you selected paper check, it will be mailed 10 days after disbursement, if you chose no refund option, the paper check is the default and will mail to you after 45 days. FAFSA Simplification - New FAFSA Big changes are coming to the FAFSA and WASFA applications in 2024-25. These changes are due to a new law passed by Congress. The goal of the law is to make it easier for families to apply for financial aid, and to increase the number of eligible students. Using your Highline login credentials, students can check the status of their application, what that status means, and what their next step should be in the process. Students can use this tool for the 2023-24 FAFSA and WASFA. Check My Status Applying for Financial Aid for 2023-2024 The Financial Aid Application process is a multi-step process that generally takes an average of 60 days to complete. The majority of the 60 days can be increased and decreased by your participation in the process. Wait too long to turn in requested information, and your process will take the full 60 days or even longer, submit your information within the 10-business-day window recommended by Highline, and it might only take a few weeks.
